I have a basic question to GATK team:

In GATK's best practices workflow guides, some workflows are shown. Are they copyright free? Can I reuse them to illustrate pipelines I used in my research?

For example, short variant discovery pipeline workflow at link below:

  These figures are are not copyright free. For any use referencing our GATK tools or documentation, please cite us following these recommendations.

  If it's for a presentation or poster, you can include the figures with a simple “© Broad Institute”. However, for a publication, things get more complicated. I would recommend that you use the content and just re-make the figures yourself to save yourself the hassle! We didn't use the most complicated shapes anyway :)
